In 1978 he graduated the Theory and History of Music faculty at Jagielloński University in Krakow . He is an author of more than 150 theater and film music scores. He debuted in Theater STU (Krakow) with music to Krzysztof Jasiński's play "Patients" based on Bulgakov's " The Master and Margarita " (1976) (pieces of it on SONGI TEATRU STU CD) . Also in 1976 in Mexican hotel De Mendoza he married his present (and only) wife Olga and two years later their daughter Marysia was born.

In 1979 he composed music to "De Blijde Intrede van Christus in Brussel" - show that was presented in The Flemish Royal Theater in Brussels on the occasion of the 1000 Anniversary of the city of Brussels .

In 1984 - 1990 he was a music director in Ateneum Theater in Warsaw , where together with Wojciech Młynarski and Janusz Józefowicz co-created shows "Brel", "Hemar", "Wysocki". Since 1986 until 1991 he was working as a team with Michał Bajor, playing concerts in many European countries, in USA and Canada .

In 1991 he finished his work over musical "Metro" with lyrics by Agata and Maryna Miklaszewskie, adaptation, direction and choreography by Janusz Józefowicz. The musical had its American premiere in Minskoff Theater on Broadway on 16 th April 1992.

Up till now more than 1200 shows of "Metro" was performed. For the music to the musical Janusz Stokłosa was nominated to a Broadway's Tony Award - "the best theatrical score in 1991/1992" category. In February 1994 music from musical "Metro" became a Golden Record, in November 1997 - Platinum Record and 30 th May 1998 - Double Platinum.

On 22 nd October 1999 musical "Metro" had its Russian premiere in Moscow . In June 2001 "Metro" gained a Golden Mask Award for the best music show in 2000/2001 in Russia .

In 2000 in Roma Theater in Warsaw musical "Peter Pan" (music - Janusz Stokłosa, libretto - Jeremi Przybora, direction - Janusz Józefowicz) was first performed. In 2003 a film "Nicolas Winton - The Power of Good" (director - Matej Minac, music - Janusz Stoklosa) won the International Emmy Award for Documentary . It was the first award of that kind ever given for the movie produced in the Eastern Europe . The last achievements of Stokłosa - Józefowicz team in the music theater topic are: "A crazy music comedy - Miss Tutli Putli" and musical "Romeo and Juliet".

In July 1998 in the town of his birth - Nowy Targ for the first time Janusz Stokłosa was flying a glider. A year later he was a third class glider pilot. In September 2001 he acquired a pilot license, in October he bought a plane (Cessna FR172, SP-KID) and at the moment he finishes his training for professional license and IFR.

Since 1990 until 2003 Janusz Stokłosa was a constant composer for A. Woron's Kreatur Theater ( Berlin ). Since 1993 until 2002 ho worked with director Dieter Giesing. Plays with Stoklosa's music were performed in Burgtheater and Akademietheater in Vienna , Schaubühne, Volksbühne and Deutsches Theater w Berlin and in Bremer Theater and Schauspielhaus in Zurich . In September 1992 he started his own music and note's editions - Stokłosa Editions, which promotes contemporary Polish music. In October 1992 he became a Studio Buffo Sp z o.o. president.
